You may have wondered what the difference is between a good haircut and a great haircut. The answer is twofold:
The cut itself must compliment your personality and body proportions (see basic face shapes ), and
The cut continues to grow and look good between services. Hair grows at about ⅛” per week. Cutting the hair every 4-6 weeks maintains its shape and placement. Hair that is not trimmed at least every 8-10 weeks will begin to spilt at the ends and break. Split ends that are left unattended continue to split up the hair shaft and cause irreparable damage. While it may seem counterintuitive, cutting hair that is “growing out” not only prevents split ends but also allows your hair to grow faster and healthier.
